Baby Boy Baptism Cake

Click the picture to enlarge.
I love how this cake came out.  It was for a baby boy's baptism.  I love the off set squares, I'm a sucker for cushion, and the baby blue drapes just set the cake apart.  We were in a rush to deliver it, so sadly I only got one picture.  I hope they loved it as much as me!

Fun Topsy Turvy 60th Birthday Cake

Click the picture to enlarge.
This was my first cake done for a stranger!  Ahhhhhh!  I received an e-mail from a very crazy man who is still madly in love with his 'wifey'.  He wanted to surprise her with a birthday cake while vacationing on Long Island.  He told me that his wife wasn't too happy about turning 60, so I decided to come up with a fun design, rather than an older feeling design.  The cake itself is super tiny, being that it was only for 2 people.  The cakes are an 8", 6" and 4" stacked.  Each layer was decorated differently, one with diamonds, one with zebra and one with stripes.  Roses, stars and diamonds were added to make it feel even younger.  This turned out to be one of my favorite cakes.

Oh, and you guys should check out the reviews for the Allegria hotel on TripAdvisor.com!  My customer was so happy with the cake, he even mentioned me in his hotel review!!!

For your entertainment, a picture of me with the cake!
Isn't it so cute?!

Baby Boy Baptism Cake

This cake was made from a 3/4 sheet cake and a 1/2  sheet cake stacked on top of one another.  The color scheme was baby blue, warm brown and pearl white.  The cake features a continuous quilted pattern, which at every corner has a baby blue pearl. The cross is made of warm brown gumpaste decorated with baby blue squares.  The top of the cake was covered in a thin layer of baby blue fondant, then was covered with hand cut 'JAE' for the boys initials.

Lightning McQueen Cake!

Click the picture to enlarge.
After making this cake, I've officially stepped down from sculpting!  Haha, just kidding. It was a pain in the butt though!

I've never really made a sculpted cake before this Lightning McQueen one.  It took my a little while to get his shape to the point where I felt he was recognizable.  After all was said and done, I thought the shape came out great, but his color is a little off.  I think it's a little too dark.  All and all, it's not a complete disaster!

Topsy Turvy Winter Wonderland Sweet 16 Cake!

Click the picture to enlarge.
Okay, so this cake is a Topsy Turvy, Winter Wonderland, Sweet 16 Cake!  Phew, get all that?

The snowman, snowflakes, 16 and the Barbara sign were all made with gumpaste and left to sit for a day to harden.

Every tier is covered in light blue fondant, which was sprayed with a pearl shine to give it a snowy type of look.  Along the bottom of every tier is a white line of fondant to represent snow hills.  The second and fourth tier are made of styrofoam, which is how I was able to achieve the topsy turvy look.

Super Mario Themed Cake

I had a lot of fun with this cake.  I was told to make a Super Mario themed cake and to just go crazy with it, and this is what I came up with.

Mario is made of edible paper, as well as the 'Happy Birthday Matteo' sign.  Along the sides I cut out hills with different shades of green gumpaste.  I then made blocks in brown and yellow and placed them randomly along the top to look like a Mario level.  I also made the flowers that are in the game.  I threw in some clouds, stars and mushrooms and wahla!  A Super Mario cake!

Spongebob Cake

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?  Spongebob Squarepants!  Made this cake for a friend, of a friend.  When I was first told I had to do a Spongebob cake I said to myself "Easy.. it'll take me an hour!"  Yeah, okay.  I forgot how detailed Spongebob really was.  Overall, including baking and cooling, it took me 5 hours to do.  I'm pretty happy with how he turned out.  And apparently he was a big hit at the party.  Woohoo.

Neon Sweet 16 Cake

Before I begin, please take no notice to the cotton balls!  Haha, I forgot to remove them before taking pictures!

This cake was for a neon themed sweet 16.  I was told to have fun with it and do whatever I felt like doing, and this is what I came up with!  In the end, I didn't like the bottom tier, but I love the top two. Every tier is covered completely in sparkles.  Even though you can't tell from the pictures, the cake sparkled from every angle.  Everything was made with fondant, except for the bow.  What do you think?!
